The Israeli military stated early Wednesday that it conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Syria to hinder the group’s “entrenchment” in the country. This action comes amidst ongoing conflict with Hamas militants in Gaza, with Israel reiterating its readiness to confront Hezbollah and escalating strikes, including those in Syria, in recent weeks.

According to an Israeli Defence Force statement, the airstrikes targeted military infrastructure used by Hezbollah on the Syrian front based on precise intelligence. The military also released footage of one of the strikes against a building.

Israel holds the Syrian regime responsible for activities within its territory and aims to prevent Hezbollah’s presence on the Syrian front.

Additionally, the IDF struck several Hezbollah observation posts and terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon. Artillery strikes were carried out throughout the day to address threats in specific areas.

On Tuesday, Israeli warplanes targeted a Syrian military position in response to rocket fire from southern Syria onto the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israeli jets conducted raids in Syria on Tuesday and late Monday. These strikes destroyed a weapons and ammunition depot in the Daraa region of southern Syria, and a military site in the south used by Iran-backed groups, including Hezbollah, to launch rockets towards the Golan Heights.

Israel has conducted numerous strikes inside Syria since the start of the country’s civil war in 2011, particularly targeting pro-Iranian assets.

Notably, on April 1, an Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy consular building in Damascus reportedly killed 16 people, including seven members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, as per the observatory. Israel has not officially commented on this attack.
