Israel Offers Ceasefire In Gaza As Part Of Hostage Deal

On Monday, Israel suggested to Hamas via Qatari and Egyptian mediators, a two-month ceasefire as part of a deal to rescue all captives held in Gaza.

According to Israeli officials, the deal would be implemented in stages, with the first including the release of women, men over 60, and those in critical medical condition.

Subsequent phases would include the release of female soldiers, younger civilian men, male soldiers, and the bodies of deceased hostages.

The officials stated the deal will also see the release of an undisclosed number of Palestinian detainees detained in Israel, but not all of them.

The proposal does not promise to end the war, but it does call for Israeli troops to reduce their presence in Gaza and eventually let civilians return to the territory’s devastated north.

As per the report the deal is likely to take about two months to implement.

Approximately 250 captives were taken during Hamas’s bloody October 7 attacks, with Israel claiming that approximately 132 remain in Gaza.

The October 7 attacks killed around 1,140 people in Israel, as per the official Israeli figures.

In response, Israel launched a relentless attack that has killed at least 25,295 people in Gaza, about 70 percent of them women, children, and adolescents, according to Hamas-run Gaza’s health ministry.
