Iran said no final agreement has been reached with the United States, and talks are still ongoing.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that both countries continue to exchange messages as diplomatic efforts progress.
Baghaei made the remarks during an interview with IRIB TV. He spoke after US President Donald Trump outlined conditions for a possible deal and signalled an upcoming decision.
The spokesman reiterated that Iran’s immediate priority in the negotiations remains ending the conflict. He clarified that the current discussions do not focus on matters related to uranium enrichment or Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
Addressing the future of the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei stressed that decisions regarding the management of the strategic waterway concern only Iran and Oman.
His comments came after Trump called for the immediate reopening of the strait to unrestricted shipping traffic without tolls.
Earlier, Trump outlined Washington’s key demands through a social media post. He stated that Iran must permanently forgo the development of nuclear weapons. He also called for the removal of any water mines and announced that the United States would lift its naval blockade.
Trump further said that the United States, working alongside Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, would excavate and destroy Iran’s enriched uranium stockpiles.
Regarding Tehran’s demand for financial compensation linked to the conflict, Trump stated that no funds would be exchanged at present.
Iran, the United States, and Israel agreed to a ceasefire on April 8 following 40 days of hostilities.
Reports indicate that both sides have exchanged several proposals through Pakistani mediation in recent weeks.
Negotiators are now working towards finalising a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the dispute and establishing a broader framework for future engagement.
