Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India has witnessed transformational economic and social change over the past 11 years, driven by major progress in infrastructure development, manufacturing, healthcare, green growth, and women’s empowerment.
Addressing a large gathering of the Indian community in Muscat, PM Modi said the strength and resilience of India’s economy were evident in the more than 8 per cent GDP growth recorded in the last quarter.
He noted that sustained reforms and people-centric policies had helped India emerge as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.

The Prime Minister said India was actively preparing itself for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century by focusing on world-class innovation, startups, and a robust Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem.
Highlighting India’s leadership in digital payments, he said the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which accounts for around 50 per cent of global digital transactions, had become a symbol of India’s technological capability and inclusive growth.
PM Modi stressed that India was no longer just a large market but had become a model for the world, offering solutions in goods, services, and digital technologies that could be adopted globally.
Space Achievements and Youth Engagement
Referring to India’s achievements in the space sector, the Prime Minister spoke about landmark milestones, including the successful landing on the Moon and the upcoming Gaganyaan human space mission.
He said space exploration was an important area of collaboration between India and Oman.
Inviting students to participate in ISRO’s YUVIKA programme, aimed at encouraging youth involvement in space science, PM Modi called upon young minds to dream big, learn deeply, and innovate boldly so they could contribute meaningfully to humanity.

PM Modi underlined that the India–Oman partnership was becoming future-ready through cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital learning, innovation partnerships, and entrepreneurship exchange.
He said such collaboration would further strengthen bilateral ties and open new avenues for growth and learning.
Indian Community and Cultural Bonds
The audience included more than 700 students from various Indian schools in Oman, a year that holds special significance as Indian schools in the country complete 50 years of establishment.

PM Modi congratulated the community on this milestone and praised their contribution to education and cultural exchange.
Thanking the diaspora for a warm and colourful welcome, the Prime Minister said he was delighted to meet people from diverse parts of India settled in Oman.
He noted that diversity is the foundation of Indian culture and a value that enables Indians to integrate seamlessly into societies across the world.
He also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the community in the ‘Bharat ko Janiye’ quiz, emphasising that knowledge and cultural understanding have always been central to India–Oman relations.
PM Modi acknowledged the growing global footprint of the Indian community and its role in fostering stronger ties between India and other nations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said India stands firmly with its diaspora, assuring that whenever and wherever Indians need assistance, the government is always there to support them.
