Indian Religious Heritage Finds Global Spotlight With PM Modi

During his visit to Thailand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed a performance of ‘Ramakien’, Thailand’s adaptation of the ‘Ramayana’, which holds deep cultural significance and is an integral part of the country’s literary heritage.

PM Modi has consistently used his international visits to highlight India’s spiritual and cultural legacy.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “A cultural connect like no other! Witnessed a captivating performance of the Thai Ramayana, Ramakien. It was a truly enriching experience that beautifully showcased the shared cultural and civilisational ties between India and Thailand. The Ramayana truly continues to connect hearts and traditions across so many parts of Asia.”

PM Modi’s Global Outreach: Showcasing India’s Spiritual Heritage

This was not the first time PM Modi’s foreign visits have featured Indian religious traditions.

In March 2025, during his visit to Mauritius, Prime Minister Modi visited Ganga Talao, where he offered sacred water from the Triveni Sangam, symbolizing the spiritual bond between India and Mauritius.

On 12 March, PM Modi also performed a symbolic ritual by mixing holy water from Prayagraj’s Mahakumbh into the Ganga Talao at Port Louis.

In December 2024, while in Kuwait, PM Modi met two Kuwaiti nationals known for their efforts in translating and publishing Arabic versions of the Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Similarly, Vedic chants welcomed him upon his arrival in Brazil in November 2024, followed by a Ramayana enactment in Rio de Janeiro.

That same month, during his visit to Guyana, PM Modi attended an event where children performed Vedic chants and sang devotional songs dedicated to Lord Ram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s October 2024 visit to Russia also reflected India’s spiritual influence, as Russian nationals in Kazan welcomed him with a Krishna Bhajan.

Likewise, during a visit to Laos, PM Modi was greeted with chants of the Gayatri Mantra and later attended a performance of the Lao Ramayana.

Going further back, during his 2021 visit to Italy, members of the Indian community in Rome chanted Shiva Mantras in his presence, underscoring the deep cultural connections that continue to resonate across the world.
