Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on 5 March visited the Adani Defence and Aerospace site in Kanpur, where he praised the team’s dedication to innovation and self-sufficiency in India’s defense sector.
Taking to X, Gautam Adani posted, “Just visited Adani Defence & Aerospace in Kanpur! Inspired to witness the incredible innovation and the rock solid commitment to India’s self-reliance in defence by the Adani team. Best of #AtmanirbharBharat in action! Our aim is to keep pushing boundaries to help build a stronger, self-reliant India!”
India aims to reduce its reliance on military imports and establish itself among the top five nations in defense and aerospace.
The country is strengthening its domestic defense manufacturing sector through indigenous private firms while enhancing infrastructure to support the armed forces.
Adani Defence and Aerospace has positioned itself as a key player in India’s defense sector, aligning with the Make in India initiative to develop world-class defense and aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
The government has introduced several policy reforms to encourage domestic production and technological advancements in the defense industry.
As a result, India has witnessed increased investments in defense hubs and growing collaboration with global firms willing to share advanced aerospace and military technology.
India’s defense exports reached an all-time high of Rs 21,083 crore (approximately USD 2.63 billion) in the financial year 2023-24, reflecting a 32.5% increase from Rs 15,920 crore in the previous year.
Over the past decade, the country’s defense exports have surged 31-fold compared to 2013-14.
Additionally, the total value of defense production in India rose by 17% to Rs 1,26,887 crore in the last fiscal year.
