An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation, led by BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, visited Brussels and held a series of high-level engagements with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), underlining India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism.
The delegation met representatives from key EU committees, including the Delegation for Relations with India, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), and the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE).
These meetings offered a platform to brief the European counterparts on recent terrorist incidents, notably the April 22 Pahalgam attack, and India’s targeted response through Operation Sindoor.
According to the Indian Embassy in Brussels, Members of the All-Party Delegation conveyed India’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and discussed joint efforts to combat cross-border terrorism, global peace and the deepening of India-EU ties.

The European Parliament unequivocally condemned the Pahalgam attack and expressed full solidarity with India.
The Indian team underscored how terrorism, particularly of the cross-border variety, remains a persistent challenge.
The EU side was also briefed on the strategic significance and restraint involved in Operation Sindoor, a carefully calibrated counter-terror operation launched in response to the attack.
Strategic & Diplomatic Dialogue
The delegation also held discussions with prominent Brussels-based think tanks and strategic affairs experts.
Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted that the exchanges reinforced a shared understanding on the importance of coordinated global responses to terrorism.
“Alongside my colleagues from the all-party delegation, I engaged with members of the Indian diaspora in Belgium, underscoring India’s unwavering commitment to combating cross-border terrorism. The diaspora expressed deep solidarity with the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed their strong support for India’s efforts to counter terrorism,” he posted on X.

Among broader themes, both Indian and EU sides discussed high-level diplomacy, enhanced parliamentary dialogue, and deeper cooperation in counter-terrorism and strategic affairs.
Representation & Diaspora Engagement
The nine-member delegation includes leaders from across India’s political spectrum: Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP), Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena-UBT), Gulam Ali Khatana (BJP), Amar Singh (Congress), Samik Bhattacharya (BJP), M. Thambidurai (AIADMK), MJ Akbar (former Union Minister), and Pankaj Saran (former Ambassador).
The delegation also met with members of the Indian diaspora in Belgium, who expressed their solidarity with the victims of terrorism and endorsed India’s firm position. The parliamentarians acknowledged the diaspora’s crucial role in amplifying India’s voice on the global stage.
Tribute & Continued Outreach
The visit commenced with a floral tribute at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Indian Embassy—symbolising India’s enduring commitment to peace and non-violence.
The Brussels leg follows earlier stops in France, Italy, Denmark, and the UK as part of India’s global diplomatic outreach to galvanise international support for its anti-terror strategy and highlight the objectives behind Operation Sindoor.
