Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Monday agreed to strengthen cooperation in critical information infrastructure protection, cybersecurity and emerging technologies, while reaffirming their commitment to an open, secure, accessible, stable, interoperable, resilient and peaceful digital space.

According to the Joint Statement issued after their meeting, both countries committed to supporting each other in protecting information technology systems against emerging quantum threats to cryptography, including preparations for post-quantum security transitions.

The leaders noted that cooperation would be facilitated through the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in the field of critical infrastructure protection and post-quantum cryptography.

During bilateral talks, PM Modi and PM Fico discussed cooperation in sectors including automobiles, railways, advanced manufacturing and green technology.

PM Modi said the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) would provide additional momentum to bilateral relations.

The two leaders condemned terrorism in all its forms, including cross-border terrorism, and agreed to establish a Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism. They called for coordinated international efforts to combat terrorism and reaffirmed support for stronger bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including within the United Nations framework.

The Joint Statement said both sides stressed the need to hold perpetrators, organisers and sponsors of terrorist acts accountable and agreed to work towards the early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).

PM Modi and PM Fico also underscored defence and security cooperation as a key pillar of the partnership. They welcomed the signing of a Letter of Intent on Defence Cooperation and agreed to enhance collaboration in defence technologies, research and development, capacity building, defence industry partnerships, and disaster resilience.
