India Slams Pakistan At UN Over Pahalgam Attack And Terror Confession

India strongly condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Pakistan’s long-standing support for terrorism during a session at the United Nations on Monday.

The country also highlighted a Pakistani minister’s public admission of training and funding terror groups, further exposing Pakistan’s role in regional destabilisation.

The 22 April attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including 25 tourists and one local resident, marking the deadliest civilian attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

UN Envoy Flags Pakistan Minister’s Terror Admission

Ambassador Yojna Patel, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, pointed to a recent television interview in which Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khwaja Asif, openly admitted to supporting terrorism.

Speaking at the launch of the Victims of Terrorism Association Network (VoTAN) in New York, Patel described the statement as further proof of Pakistan’s rogue conduct on the global stage.

“The world has heard Pakistan’s Defence Minister admit to decades of supporting, training, and funding terrorists. This confession surprises no one but confirms Pakistan’s role as a rogue state fuelling global terrorism and regional instability,” said Ambassador Patel.

Pakistan Minister’s Shocking Admission

In a widely circulated interview, Khwaja Asif acknowledged Pakistan’s complicity, stating, “We have been doing this dirty work for the US for the past three decades, including the West and the UK.”

The remarks followed global outrage over the Pahalgam attack and drew strong condemnation from India.

India Accuses Pakistan Of Misusing UN Forum

Ambassador Patel also criticised Pakistan for misusing international platforms like the UN to spread propaganda and make baseless accusations against India.

She reaffirmed India’s commitment to counterterrorism and highlighted the long-term impact of terror acts on victims and communities.

“India has suffered from cross-border terrorism for decades. We understand the pain and trauma that such acts inflict—not only on victims and their families but on society as a whole,” she stated.

Patel expressed India’s gratitude for the international support extended following the Pahalgam tragedy, calling it a clear indication of the world’s zero tolerance for terrorism.

“We deeply appreciate the strong, unequivocal solidarity shown by global leaders. Terrorism in all its forms must be condemned without exception,” she added.

Victims Of Terrorism Network Launched

India welcomed the launch of VoTAN, a new initiative aimed at giving victims of terrorism a voice on the international stage.

“VoTAN represents a significant step in ensuring that victims are heard, supported, and placed at the heart of our collective response to terrorism,” said Ambassador Patel. “India believes such platforms are essential for a more coordinated and humane global counterterrorism strategy.”
