Congress MP Manish Tewari, part of an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation visiting Qatar, declared on Monday that India will not tolerate proxy wars waged through terrorism.
He emphasised India’s right to defend its sovereignty, following a high-level meeting with Qatar’s Shura Council.
Delegation Engages In Constructive Talks With Qatari Leadership
Led by NCP (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule, the Indian delegation met with the Deputy Speaker of Qatar’s Shura Council, Sheikha Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, and other council members.
Tiwari described the dialogue as ‘productive and constructive’ in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the discussions focused on regional security and terrorism.

During the meeting, the delegation presented details of India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
They also shared compelling evidence of Pakistan’s direct support for terrorism and its sheltering of terror outfits.
India Stands Firm Against Proxy War
Tiwari emphasised that India, a 5,000-year-old civilizational state and a diverse, pluralistic society, cannot be subjected to ‘a low-cost proxy war’ by Pakistan.
“India reserves the right to take appropriate measures to defend her sovereignty and civilizational ethos,” he asserted, criticising Pakistan for using terror as an instrument of state policy.
Qatar’s Shura Council Voices Support For India
Qatar’s top legislative body responded with strong support for India’s stance.
The Shura Council members agreed to eliminate terrorism in all forms at its roots and endorsed a zero-tolerance approach to terror.
The multi-party team includes Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Anurag Thakur (BJP), V Muraleedharan (BJP), Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma (Congress), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney (AAP), and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.
Supriya Sule Highlights Unified Global Approach On Terrorism
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Supriya Sule confirmed that Qatar’s parliamentarians expressed shared views with India on countering terrorism and corruption.
“We agreed that terrorism must be uprooted from its source. Qatar’s representatives echoed our zero-tolerance stance,” she said.
The Indian lawmakers also interacted with editorial teams from prominent Qatari newspapers Al Sharq and Peninsula, where they discussed India’s strategy following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on cross-border terrorism.
Additionally, the delegation visited the Middle East Council for Global Affairs to exchange views on international counter-terrorism strategies and regional security cooperation.
