
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Tianjin on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
During the interaction, PM Modi described India’s relationship with Nepal as ‘deep-rooted and very special’.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Delighted to meet Nepal PM Mr. KP Oli in Tianjin. India’s relations with Nepal are deep-rooted and very special.”

The two leaders had previously spoken in April at the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.
Before the meeting with Oli, PM Modi held talks with Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission.
Discussions covered cooperation in areas such as trade, development, defence, security, and border management.
Taking to X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted, “PM @narendramodi met with Senior General Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of Myanmar, on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China. The leaders reviewed India-Myanmar ties & discussed the way forward on several aspects of bilateral cooperation, including trade, development partnership, defence and security and border management. PM reiterated India’s readiness to support the developmental needs of Myanmar.”

PM Modi Meets Chinese President Xi Jinping
The Prime Minister also conferred with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin. Both sides highlighted the need to ensure calm along the border and committed themselves to closer cooperation guided by mutual respect and sensitivity.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Had a fruitful meeting with President Xi Jinping in Tianjin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit. We reviewed the positive momentum in India-China relations since our last meeting in Kazan. We agreed on the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in border areas and reaffirmed our commitment to cooperation based on mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.”

Later, PM Modi met Cai Qi, a member of China’s Politburo Standing Committee, to discuss strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties.
The Prime Minister reached Tianjin on Saturday following his Japan visit and received a formal reception at Binhai International Airport ahead of the two-day SCO Summit.
