Thailand’s Public Relations Department said the Princess passed away at a Bangkok hospital at 7:48 PM local time.
According to an official statement, Princess Bajrakitiyabha had been receiving medical treatment since December 15, 2022, after losing consciousness due to a heart condition.
Doctors later detected an abdominal infection linked to inflammation of the large intestine in April 2026, which further complicated her condition. Despite extensive medical care, her health deteriorated in the months that followed.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was born in Bangkok on December 7, 1978, and was the eldest child and only daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Soamsawali.
Widely known as ‘Princess Pa’, Princess Bajrakitiyabha held several prominent public roles during her career. She served as a prosecutor, legal scholar, Thailand’s ambassador to Austria and commander of a royal bodyguard unit.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha actively participated in humanitarian work and established the Friends in Need Volunteers Foundation under the Thai Red Cross Society.
Following her passing, King Maha Vajiralongkorn ordered the royal funeral rites with the highest honours. Her remains will lie in state at the Biman Rataya Pavilion within Bangkok’s Grand Palace.
