India Is Building A Manufacturing Ecosystem From Chips To Ships, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India is building a manufacturing ecosystem ‘from chips to ships’ as it works towards becoming a developed nation and prepares to lead global innovation through 6G technology.

Addressing the Indian community in Melbourne, PM Modi said India has grown from a few hundred registered startups to more than two lakh, with over 4,000 new ventures launching every month. He credited the country’s youth for transforming India into the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem and said startups are expanding beyond metropolitan cities into districts across the country.

The Prime Minister said hundreds of Indian startups are working in advanced sectors such as defence and space, with an Indian space startup preparing to launch a satellite on its own rocket. He also outlined future milestones, including the Gaganyaan mission and India’s plans to establish its own space station.

PM Modi said the foundation of India’s aspirations lies in its people, adding that ‘We, the People’ and the principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ have become guiding principles of governance.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said explosions at terrorist bases were heard across the world. He also recalled that his current trip was his third visit to Australia in 12 years and credited the Indian diaspora for strengthening bilateral ties.

Earlier, the Prime Minister received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community in Melbourne.

In a post on X, PM Modi described the reception as unforgettable despite the cold weather. He also witnessed cultural performances, including a fusion of the Australian didgeridoo and Indian tabla, a symphony orchestra’s rendition of Maa Tujhe Salaam, and a Kathak performance.
