Cutting across party lines, Union ministers, Chief Ministers, and state ministers came together to promote India’s growth story at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos.

Despite competing for investments and resources, the leaders emphasized collaboration over rivalry, presenting a united front as ‘Team India’.

India sent its largest-ever delegation to the WEF, including five Union ministers, three state Chief Ministers, government officials, and civil society members.

India First: Naidu’s Vision For India’s Growth At Davos

“We may be different political parties, we are all one when we came to Davos,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, a key ally of the BJP-led NDA government in New Delhi, spoke at a press conference in Davos, sharing the stage with leaders from various political parties.

“India first, our people first. That is our slogan,” he noted.

CM Naidu emphasized that India stands strong due to its economic reforms, timely adoption of technology, demographic dividend, stable growth, and robust government policies.

“India brand is very strong under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi,” he added.

CM asserted that leaders from various parties joined together in Davos as ‘Team India’, sending a strong message to the world.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also reinforced the ‘Team India’ spirit.

Fadnavis Reinforces ‘Team India’ Spirit & Federalism

Addressing the press conference, Fadnavis stated, “At Davos, we could see one India, and I think it’s a great example of cooperative and competitive federalism whereby we are talking in one voice, but at the same time we are competing for business, we are competing for showcasing the abilities of our states, and I think that is what is contemplated in the cooperative and competitive federalism.”

Fadnavis, recently re-elected as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, noted, “For us, it’s a forum to network, to understand the emerging technologies, to take the emerging technologies back home, to interact with different businesses, to tell them that we want to welcome them to our states and our country, and I think we could do it successfully here.”

Fadnavis also highlighted the importance of inclusive growth to achieve India’s $5 trillion economy goal, noting that more states are now contributing to national growth.

“There was a time when 3 or 4 states only used to grow. They used to get the share of growth, but now is a time when more states are competing and they are showcasing their strengths and they are attracting the investment, and I think together if we grow, India is going to grow,” CM Fadnavis added.

Leaders Share Best Practices For National Development

Maharashtra Chief Minister highlighted that beyond showcasing a united ‘Team India’ at Davos, state leaders had the chance to exchange best practices.

He further emphasized that for everyone at the press conference, the nation’s interests came first, with healthy competition among states following.

Kerala’s Minister for Law, Industries, and Coir, P Rajeev, emphasized his state’s efforts to simplify processes and thanked the central government for recognizing Kerala’s initiatives.

TRB Rajaa, the Tamil Nadu minister from DMK, expressed his support for the concept of an inclusive ‘Team India’ at Davos.

Building on the previous speaker’s remarks, he added, “I don’t differ from you, but I think we should take pride in what we have achieved as a nation. The world needs India though. And I think we are in a position to leverage that.”

“When you bat as one, the kind of successes that you can get from this world it’s amazing What I see from success here outcomes every, every state has its own, views on MoUs and how to sign, when to sign, all that, and, and the kind of interest we’ve gotten, the kind of interest Maharashtra is getting, the kind of interest Telangana, Andhra, all the states that are here are getting,” added the Tamil Nadu Minister.

He emphasized that India, given its economic stature and scale, should now take the lead in shaping global policies.

“We should start leveraging (India’s) position and start writing policy for the world, or at least we should have a say in what policy gets written for the world,” TRB Rajaa asserted.

TRB Rajaa Proposes Hosting A Davos-Like Event In India

The Tamil Nadu Minister unexpectedly proposed the idea of hosting a Davos-like event in India, specifically suggesting Jammu as the location.

He said, “Why not? If India calls, the world will come today. If India calls, the world will come.”

Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary called the delegation a ‘tremendous show of unity and talent’, while Rammohan Naidu of the TDP described India’s diversity as its strength, showcased vividly at Davos.

Chirag Paswan, Union Minister from the LJP, lauded Prime Minister Modi’s leadership over the past decade, crediting him with raising India’s global profile.

“The kind of reception that we have seen and I think a lot of credit and the only credit goes to my prime minister the way he has in the past one decade, the way India in front of all the other developed countries, the way it has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies, as one of the fastest developing countries has given us that respect,” he said.

The WEF Annual Meeting 2025, themed ‘Collaboration for the Intelligent Age’, runs from January 20-24 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.

India’s Pavilion features eight states: Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and West Bengal – seeking investment opportunities from global executives.

The Indian leaders’ cohesive approach at Davos exemplified unity in diversity, presenting India as a promising destination for innovation, collaboration, and growth.
