India’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, Manish, met President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on Saturday. They assessed preparations for the President’s scheduled visit to India in May 2026, following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Both sides reviewed key outcomes under the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan. They focused on enhancing collaboration across trade, investment, innovation, and connectivity.
The discussions built upon the momentum generated during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Cyprus in June 2025.
Officials examined progress in priority domains. These included defence, security, renewable energy, digital transformation, fintech, and maritime engagement.
They also stressed strengthening people-to-people ties through academic exchanges and cultural initiatives.

Earlier, in October last year, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos in New Delhi. They jointly reviewed the India-Cyprus Joint Action Plan 2025-2029. The dialogue covered global geopolitical developments and cooperation in multilateral platforms.
Jaishankar expressed confidence that ties would strengthen further as Cyprus assumes the presidency of the European Union in 2026.
During his June 2025 visit, Prime Minister Modi invited President Christodoulides to India.
Both leaders held comprehensive talks in Nicosia. They explored opportunities across trade, security, and technology.
They also highlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor as a transformative initiative. It aims to promote economic integration, stability, and sustainable growth.
Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation spanning the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Europe.
