- After Imran Khan was brought before a bench on its orders, the Pakistani Supreme Court ruled that his arrest was “illegal” and ordered his immediate release.
- A three-member bench, consisting of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Athar Minallah, issued the order to produce Khan, who is 70 years old.
- The manner in which Khan was taken into custody from the premises of the Islamabad High Court drew the bench’s ire.
- Bandia said that the Islamabad High Court to hear the case on Friday. ” The judge continued, “You will have to accept whatever the high court decides.”

- Additionally, Bandial stated that it is the duty of every politician to maintain order.
- Bandial inquired about the procedure for obtaining an arrest warrant from the courthouse.
- Justice Minallah made the observation that Khan had actually entered the courthouse. Why should anyone be denied access to justice? He pressed.
- The court made the observation that no one could be arrested outside of the court without the registrar’s permission. The arrest was equivalent to denying a citizen’s right to access justice without fear or warning.
