Hong Kong Residential Fire Claims 94 Lives, Rescue Operations Continue

Hong Kong authorities reported that the death toll from the massive residential fire has risen sharply to 94.

Fire Services Department confirmed seventy-two injured individuals, including eight firefighters, received immediate hospital treatment following the devastating blaze.

Rescue teams deployed 304 engines and drones to monitor dangerous heat levels and prevent traumatic rekindling.

Firefighters extinguished flames in four buildings while battling persistent fires across three others still requiring vigilant operational attention.

Wang Fuk Court comprises eight buildings wrapped in scaffolding and mesh because of an ongoing major renovation project.

Police arrested three renovation workers for suspected manslaughter after investigations identified flammable materials contributing to the rapid escalation.

Chief Executive John Lee stated firefighters gradually gained control over the fire through coordinated efforts during challenging conditions. Lee reported two hundred seventy-nine individuals remain missing and twenty-nine victims remain hospitalised, including seven in critical condition.

He emphasised that visible flames disappeared from three buildings while four others displayed scattered fire spots requiring monitoring.

Lee pledged governmental support, directing departments to rescue residents, treat injuries, assist families and investigate the tragic accident.

Authorities raised the alert to a number five alarm as the fierce blaze intensified rapidly across residential structures. Emergency teams continued rescue operations after receiving initial notification around 2:51 PM on Wednesday afternoon as flames expanded dangerously.

Personnel across multiple support units coordinated shelter operations while assisting displaced residents with essential supplies and emotional guidance.

Volunteers and organisations donated resources, showing strong community solidarity and a compassionate response during this catastrophic Hong Kong event.
