The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli tank in the southern Gaza Strip.
According to a statement from the group, its fighters from Hamas detonated an explosive device against the tank while it was operating near the separation line between Gaza and Israel, east of Khan Younis.
Following the blast, the group fired mortar shells at the area. The Israeli military has yet to issue an official response to the attack, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
This attack occurs amidst intensifying violence in Gaza.
Since Israel renewed its air and ground offensive on March 18, Gaza’s health authorities report that at least 1,001 Palestinians have been killed, with 2,359 others wounded.

The escalating conflict continues to devastate the region, with hospitals in Gaza receiving 80 bodies and 305 wounded in the past 48 hours alone.
Emergency workers are struggling to reach many victims trapped under rubble, adding to the growing humanitarian crisis.
In response to the region’s deepening economic challenges, the Palestinian government approved its general budget for the 2025 fiscal year on Monday.
The budget includes austerity and emergency measures aimed at addressing the fiscal deficit, exacerbated by Israel withholding Palestinian tax revenues.
A statement from the Palestinian government communication center outlined the budget’s goals to balance the public’s growing needs with financial and administrative reforms.
As the economic crisis worsens, the government is seeking external financial assistance.
Officials further emphasized that the budget had undergone extensive consultations with civil society groups to ensure transparency.
The spending priorities focus on critical sectors such as health, education, social protection, and security.
