Global Leaders Praise PM Modi As He Sets New Leadership Record

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received congratulatory messages from world leaders on Wednesday after becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, surpassing Jawaharlal Nehru’s record of 4,399 days in office.

Who Congratulated PM Modi?

Leaders from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Pacific lauded PM Modi’s leadership, democratic mandate and contribution to India’s economic and global rise.

Rabi Lamichhane, President of Nepal’s ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), described the milestone as a ‘remarkable feat’ and expressed his commitment to strengthening Nepal-India ties through greater economic cooperation and shared growth.

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, writing on behalf of the King, government and people of Bhutan, termed the achievement ‘remarkable’ and said it reflected both political longevity and enduring democratic legitimacy. He noted that history would remember India’s transformation and growing influence under PM Modi’s leadership.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung congratulated PM Modi, stating that he had guided India’s growth and development while elevating the country’s standing in the international community.

European Council President Antonio Costa highlighted the strengthening of India-European Union relations under PM Modi’s leadership and expressed optimism about continued cooperation and partnership.

Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh described the milestone as a testament to PM Modi’s leadership and the trust reposed in him by the Indian people, while reaffirming commitment to stronger Mongolia-India ties.

Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar credited PM Modi with transforming India’s economy through major reforms and compared his longevity in office with that of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Kenyan President William Ruto described PM Modi’s rise from humble beginnings as an example of dedication, perseverance and public service, while recognising the confidence shown in him through three consecutive electoral mandates.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali referred to PM Modi as an ‘elder brother and dear friend’ and praised his role in poverty reduction, digital public infrastructure expansion, infrastructure development and advocacy for the Global South.

Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka also extended his appreciation and admiration for PM Modi’s leadership and service to India.

The milestone comes as PM Modi completes 4,399 days in office as an elected Prime Minister, becoming the longest-serving elected leader in India’s history.
