Global Condemnation Follows Iran’s Missile Attack On US Bases In Qatar

Several nations have voiced strong condemnation of Iran’s missile attack targeting US military installations in Qatar, describing the move as a serious violation of international norms and regional sovereignty.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, reportedly involved the launch of six missiles towards American bases in Iraq and Qatar under an operation named ‘Annunciation of Victory’.

Although the Iranian missiles failed to cause significant damage, thanks to interception by the US Patriot missile defence system, the act has drawn global rebuke and renewed fears of escalating conflict in the Middle East.

France expresses solidarity with Qatar

French President Emmanuel Macron led the international response by expressing unequivocal solidarity with Qatar.

In a post on social media platform X, Macron stated, “I spoke with my friend Sheikh Tamim, Emir of Qatar. I conveyed to him my full solidarity and my condemnation of the Iranian strikes that targeted his country. France stands alongside Qatar and each of its partners in the Gulf.”

In a subsequent post, Macron urged all parties to exercise restraint, return to diplomatic negotiations, and prevent further descent into chaos.

Australia calls for de-escalation

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong also condemned the strikes, describing them as dangerous provocations.

“Australia condemns Iran’s strikes on US bases in Qatar and Iraq. We do not want to see further escalation. A full-scale war in the Middle East would be devastating for the people of the region and the world. Australia continues to call for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy,” she wrote on X.

Arab nations issue sharp rebukes

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement denouncing the attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as a ‘flagrant violation of Qatari sovereignty, airspace, and international law’.

The ministry pledged full support to Qatar and affirmed its right to respond proportionately to such aggression.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry described Iran’s act as ‘entirely unacceptable’ and ‘a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of good neighbourliness’.

The Kingdom expressed unwavering support for Qatar and offered its full capabilities in any response the nation might take.

Jordan also joined the chorus of condemnation.

Its Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated it stood in complete solidarity with Qatar and supported all efforts to defend its sovereignty and security.

Ambassador Sufian Qudah, the ministry’s spokesperson, warned of serious repercussions if the escalation continued and stressed the need to protect international peace and security.

With tensions in the Middle East already running high, the widespread condemnation underscores the international community’s shared concern about Iran’s recent escalation.

As leaders call for restraint and a return to diplomacy, the incident marks another flashpoint in an increasingly volatile regional dynamic.
