German traveler Alex Welder praised the metro systems in Delhi and Agra, calling them ‘better than Western Europe’s’.
In a recent Instagram post, Welder shared his surprise at how efficient and clean India’s metros are.
Welder said he was ‘pleasantly surprised’ to find a seat on the Delhi Metro 80-90% of the time, as long as he avoided rush hours and tourist spots.
He compared India’s metro features to those in countries like Japan, South Korea, and China.
He highlighted platform screen doors, phone charging stations, and seats for women and the elderly.
Welder also enjoyed the food and shopping options at metro stations.
He mentioned that he had not seen other vloggers showcase India’s metro system, which is often overshadowed by road traffic.
He wrote, “I didn’t know that some cities like Agra and Delhi actually have a very decent metro system.”
In a video accompanying the post, Welder showed himself sitting comfortably in a spacious metro coach and enjoying food at one of the stations.
His post went viral, with many users agreeing with his praise.
One commented, “No drug addicts, no drunken people, nobody pissing or puking, no rats – clean and well-organized.”
Another compared Delhi Metro to the London Tube, calling it ‘so much better’.
Welder’s post highlights the growing recognition of India’s metro systems.
These systems have become a symbol of India’s progress in infrastructure development.
