Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised India’s cultural heritage showcased during his ongoing visit to the Netherlands, highlighting traditional performances from Maharashtra and Assam at a community event in The Hague.
Sharing glimpses of the celebrations on X, PM Modi said Maharashtra’s traditions brought alive during the programme and described the event as a memorable celebration of the state’s cultural legacy, gaining recognition worldwide. He also appreciated the representation of Assam’s cultural heritage at the gathering.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the large turnout and enthusiasm of the Indian community at the event in The Hague.
“Deeply touched by the immense enthusiasm and affection of the Indian community at the community programme in The Hague. Their energy and connection with India are deeply special,” PM Modi stated.
Prime Minister Modi praised the Indian diaspora for its contribution to Dutch society and described the community as a ‘living bridge’ of friendship between India and the Netherlands. He also recalled the historical ties of the Surinami-Hindustani community with India and commended efforts to preserve and celebrate cultural traditions across generations.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in the Netherlands late Friday evening as part of his multi-nation diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening India’s strategic and economic engagement in Europe.
During his visit, PM Modi will likely hold bilateral talks with Dutch leaders on trade, investment, semiconductors, clean energy, agriculture, defence, water management and emerging technologies.
Discussions are also likely to focus on climate action, green hydrogen, resilient supply chains, digital innovation and maritime cooperation.
Officials said Rotterdam continues to serve as a major gateway for Indian exports to Europe.
