The first presidential debate took place between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the US today (28 June). This was the best opportunity for 81-year-old Biden to prove himself as the right presidential candidate from the Democratic Party.
However, after a 75-minute debate, the New York Times, Washington Post, and CNN, which hosted the debate, among America’s largest media houses, declared Trump the winner.
According to the New York Times, after Biden’s performance, the leaders of the Democratic Party are raising questions about his claim for the presidency. They are expressing apprehension that Biden will not be able to complete the campaign for the next 4 months before the election.

Democratic Party leader said – Biden cannot make us win the election
A strategist of the Democratic Party wrote on social media, “Voices are going to get louder in the party to remove Biden from the post. He was the party’s favorite till now, but now this is going to change.” At the same time, another worker said, “The goal of the party is to win the election. But the person who was present on stage with Trump today cannot make us win this.”
Biden’s former communication director Kate Bedingfield mentioned after the debate, “There is no doubt that this debate was not good for Biden. The biggest challenge before him was to prove that despite being old, he has the strength to lead America, but Biden failed to do so.”
Some leaders of the Democratic Party were watching this debate together. One of them said that this debate was very bad for Biden. Now he is discussing with the party leaders about the new presidential candidate.
‘Biden’s Democratic Party in panic after debate’
John F. Kennedy’s family member and former California First Lady Maria Shriver posted on social media after the debate, saying, “I know Biden is a great person. He has a big heart. He has dedicated himself to the country, but today’s debate broke my heart. It was an important political moment. There is panic in the Democratic Party.”
Former Missouri MP and Democratic Party leader Claire McCaskill criticized Trump, saying that he is a liar, mean, stupid and a bad person, but today Biden had only one job. He had to prove that he can lead America even at this age.
Julian Castro, who was a minister in Barack Obama’s cabinet, said that the result of this debate was what was expected. Very little was expected from Biden regarding the debate and he could not even fulfill that. Apart from this, Andrew Young of the Democratic Party, who was a presidential candidate in 2020, said that now the time has come when the party should remove Biden and nominate someone else.

Vice President Kamala Harris in the Biden administration came to Biden’s defense. She said that we have achieved what we wanted to achieve. This shows that our president is going to win the election.

After the debate, Biden clarified the concerns of the Democrats and said, “I was not well and my throat was sore. Still, I think we performed well. After all, it is difficult to debate with a person who lies.”
