Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Monday reaffirmed that the fight against terrorism must remain a core priority of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Addressing the SCO-Plus meeting in Tianjin, Misri emphasised India’s readiness to share its expertise and sustainable development initiatives with SCO partners.

PM Modi Calls for Decisive Action on Terrorism
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 25th SCO Council of Heads of State Meeting in Tianjin on Sunday. He called for coordinated action against terror financing and radicalisation.
PM Modi outlined India’s approach to strengthening SCO cooperation through three key pillars: Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity.
Stressing that peace and stability are essential for prosperity, he urged member states to take firm and decisive action against terrorism in all its forms.
Thanking SCO members for their solidarity after the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi reiterated that the global community must not adopt double standards in dealing with terrorism.
He urged the group to hold countries accountable for perpetrating or supporting cross-border terrorism.
Highlighting India’s support for greater regional connectivity, the Prime Minister reaffirmed backing for key projects. These include the Chabahar Port and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
He said enhanced connectivity fosters trust and drives development.
SCO Summit Discusses Key Global Challenges
The Tianjin summit discussed the SCO strategy, global reforms, counter-terrorism, security, economic cooperation, and sustainable development.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, founded on June 15, 2001, is a permanent intergovernmental body.
Its members include China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Belarus.
Afghanistan and Mongolia are observers, while 14 nations, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, are dialogue partners.
