Waltz, 50, will replace Jake Sullivan as National Security Advisor on January 20, when Trump is sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.
Earlier on Friday, EAM Jaishankar completed a two-day conference with the Indian Embassy and Consuls General in Washington, DC.
He posted on X, “We concluded a very useful two-day conference of team @IndianEmbassyUS and our Consuls General in Washington, DC, today.”
“Confident from the deliberations that the continuous growth of the 🇮🇳 🇺🇸 partnership will be accelerated”, the tweet further read. Michael Waltz, a three-term Congressman from Florida’s sixth Congressional District, is the Republican Co-Chair of the Congressional India Caucus, the largest country-specific caucus in the US House of Representatives.
He co-led a Congressional delegation to India in August last year and attended Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. He has also been involved in several India-related legislation in the House.
Trump announced Waltz’s appointment as National Security Advisor on November 12.
