Former U.S. President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has announced that he will not participate in a second presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump declared victory in the debate hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. He also accused Harris of avoiding debate invitations from Fox News, NBC News, and CBS News.

Vice President Harris responded on social media platform X, asserting that “we owe it to the voters to have another debate.” Her campaign echoed this sentiment, claiming victory in the first debate. “Vice President Harris commanded the stage on every single issue that matters to the American people,” the campaign stated in a press release.
A CNN poll of debate watchers indicated that 63 percent believed Harris delivered a stronger performance in Philadelphia, according to Xinhua news agency. Fox News reported that out of a panel of 17 voters, 12 felt Harris won the debate, while five thought Trump emerged victorious. Many panelists criticized Trump for his inability to effectively challenge Harris.
Following the debate, a New York Times article highlighted that Democratic strategists and officials praised Harris’ performance. Meanwhile, Republicans expressed dissatisfaction with the moderators’ questions and noted Trump’s failure to capitalize on key opportunities to attack his opponent.
