United States has struck more than 5,000 targets across Iran during the first ten days of a major military campaign aimed at dismantling the country’s security infrastructure, according to details released by US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The operation, named Operation Epic Fury, began at 1:15 a.m. on February 28, 2026. It involves extensive use of American air, naval and missile systems targeting Iranian military capabilities across the country.
CENTCOM said the campaign was launched at the direction of the President of the United States, with forces tasked to strike sites linked to the Iranian regime’s security apparatus and locations posing an imminent threat.
According to the operational summary, more than 5,000 targets have been hit so far, while 50 Iranian vessels have been damaged or destroyed during the first ten days of fighting.
Wide Range Of Aircraft And Drones Deployed
The campaign involves a broad mix of American military assets, including long-range bombers such as B-1, B-2 stealth bombers and B-52 bombers.
Advanced fighter aircraft including F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22 stealth fighters and F-35 stealth fighters are also part of the operation. Attack aircraft such as the A-10 and electronic warfare platforms like the EA-18G electronic attack aircraft are supporting the mission.
Intelligence and surveillance aircraft such as the U-2 Dragon Lady, RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft and P-8 maritime patrol aircraft are providing monitoring and targeting support.
Unmanned systems, including MQ-9 Reaper drones and LUCAS drones, are also playing a significant role in surveillance and strike operations.
Naval Power And Missile Defence Systems Involved
Naval forces, including nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and guided-missile destroyers, are supporting the air campaign, while refuelling ships sustain long-range operations.
Missile defence systems such as Patriot interceptor missile systems and THAAD anti-ballistic missile systems are being used to protect US forces and allied assets in the region.
Logistics aircraft including C-17 Globemaster and C-130 cargo aircraft are transporting equipment and supplies needed for the large-scale campaign.
Targets include military infrastructure
The targets being struck include command and control centres, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters buildings, intelligence facilities and integrated air defence systems.
Other targets include ballistic missile sites, anti-ship missile locations, Iranian navy ships and submarines, military communication infrastructure and facilities linked to ballistic missile and drone manufacturing.
The operational overview also highlights the use of counter-drone systems, airborne early warning aircraft, communication relay platforms and counter rocket, artillery and mortar defence systems.
The summary adds that the mission includes “special capabilities we can’t list here,” suggesting classified systems may also be part of the campaign.
