On Monday, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, emphasized his desire for the Russia-Ukraine war to end. He further wants things to return to normal before the start of the next G20 Summit in Brazil. As per the reports Lula said, “I do not know the reason why President Putin and Xi Jinping did not participate here but I will invite them and I hope that they will come to Brazil and participate in the Summit. I hope that when we open the Summit in Brazil, the war has ended and we are back to normal times.”

We want to use many cities in Brazil to organise a great number of events there.” At the conclusion of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the bloc’s new president, Brazil, a ceremonial gavel. “I want to congratulate Brazil’s president and my friend Lula da Silva, and hand over the presidency’s gavel to him,” the PM said.

Putin to be invited in next G20 summit
Vladimir Putin won’t be detained in Brazil if he visits the Group of 20 gathering in Rio de Janeiro in 2019, the Brazilian president stated earlier on Saturday. When questioned by a news program on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in Delhi, Lula stated that Putin would be invited to the event the following year, adding that he personally intended to attend a BRICS meeting of developing nations scheduled to take place in Russia prior to the Rio meeting. “I believe that Putin can go easily to Brazil,” Lula said. “What I can say to you is that if I’m president of Brazil, and he comes to Brazil, there’s no way he will be arrested.”

ICC issued warrant against Putin
In March, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin, accusing him of committing a war crime by forcibly removing hundreds of kids from Ukraine. Russian military have denied committing war crimes or abducting Ukrainian youngsters forcibly.
The G20 nations didn’t expressly denounce Russia’s conduct in the Ukraine war in a joint statement they released over the weekend. The declaration instead stressed how crucial it is for all nations to abstain from using force to seize territory.
