As India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on January 26, Bangladesh extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the government and people of India, reaffirming the spirit of friendship, cooperation, and shared democratic values between the two neighbouring countries.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, conveyed the message through social media, sharing an image bearing the words ‘Bangladesh greets on India’s 77th Republic Day’ in 14 languages.
In his message, he noted that Bangladesh felicitated ‘every woman, man and child in India’ on the national occasion, underlining the people-centric nature of bilateral ties.

India observes Republic Day annually on January 26 to commemorate the adoption and enforcement of the Constitution in 1950, marking the nation’s transition into a sovereign democratic republic.
The day upholds the constitutional principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity, which form the foundation of India’s democratic framework.
Earlier, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh hosted a reception in Dhaka to mark the occasion.
The event was attended by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, as the chief guest, along with representatives from politics, administration, the armed forces, business, civil society, media, academia, cultural bodies and the diplomatic corps.
Addressing the gathering, Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma also reaffirmed India’s support for a democratic, peaceful and inclusive Bangladesh, highlighting deep historical ties and the importance of forward-looking cooperation.
The exchange of Republic Day greetings underscored the enduring strength of India–Bangladesh relations and a shared commitment to a deeper partnership.
