As preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025 ramp up, devotees and tourists from across India and abroad have already started arriving in Prayagraj. The Yogi government has deployed top officials to the ghats, ensuring the safety and convenience of pilgrims, aiming to make Maha Kumbh 2025 a grand cultural spectacle.
Strict instructions have been issued to promptly address any concerns pilgrims may have. Enthusiasm for the event is growing, and Prayagraj is quickly solidifying its place as the spiritual heart of the nation.
Pandit Mahendra Nath Sharma, a priest at Sangam Ghat, noted a significant rise in visitors arriving to perform rituals for their ancestors. He mentioned that people from across the country and abroad are coming to perform rites for the peace of seven to eight generations. Priests are helping visitors unfamiliar with their heritage by providing written records of their lineage.
Renowned priest Subrahmanyam Shastri, also known as Chari Ji, praised the Yogi government’s efforts, stating that reconstruction work has fueled excitement among both locals and visitors. Long queues have formed as people seek to meet the Brahmins and priests of Prayagraj for religious services.
Expatriates from countries like the United States, Canada, Mauritius, Australia, and Russia have started arriving, bringing ashes of their ancestors to perform traditional rites at the sacred Ganga. A coordinated team effort is underway to manage the influx of visitors and ensure smooth religious activities. According to Pankaj Pandey, who oversees these operations, pilgrims performing rituals for their ancestors contribute to the local economy by providing employment for many Brahmins and others involved in the process.
The mythology of King Bhagirath bringing the Ganga to earth to liberate 60,000 sons of King Sagar continues to inspire pilgrims, adding a spiritual depth to their visit.
