New Dating trend coming along Santa's sledge
This year, a number of dating terminology have emerged on social media, ranging from “fizzling” to “Masterdating.” ‘Tinselling’ is another dating term that has entered our love lexicon, especially with Christmas rapidly approaching. The phrase was created by Tina Wilson, a relationship specialist and the founder and CEO of Wingman, to characterize how couples frequently attempt to hide their genuine emotions over the holiday season. She clarified that the term “Tinselling” is derived from the bright, cheery exterior of tinsel, which is used to adorn Christmas trees, but mostly to hide any voids or uneven areas of the tree, much to how couples hide their issues during this holiday season.

“The name draws inspiration from the shiny, cheerful veneer of tinsel, which is used to decorate during the festive season, covering what is beneath,” Ms Wilson explained, as per the outlet. “They [couples] choose to maintain a facade of harmony and togetherness. All while overlooking unresolved problems in the relationship,” she added.
According to Ms. Wilson, this is a “deliberate decision” made by couples to postpone their problems until after the holidays are over. January is when partners “need to sit down and chat about their relationship,” and a breakup is probably in the works as they try to start over.
What can ‘Tinselling’ do to your relationship
The dating expert also warned people about the dangers of “tinselling” can do to your relationship. “Warning signs of being in a tinselling relationship is noticing their partner being overly full of the Christmas spirit, presents and joy galore…. but if you want to talk about anything serious they will always say let’s talk after Christmas or push it off,” Ms Wilson told media.
Separately, Marriage-Loving Divorce Attorney Nicole Sodoma concurred with the source that avoidance doesn’t lead to a happy ending in marriages. According to her, January has come to be recognized as “divorce month” because of how widespread this practice has become.

It must be avoided
Tinselling is not the only dating fad that made headlines this year, though. The dating trend that should be avoided the most this year is “ground hogging,” while the “Penny method” has been called the most harmful.
The “Penny method” focuses on gradually weaning someone off of the initial effort put in to win them over to a relationship, both globally and systematically, until they are content with the barest minimum. Conversely, “ground hogging” refers to the practice of repeatedly dating or pursuing the same kind of person while anticipating different outcomes.
