Tamil Nadu’s 2023 mid-year exams postponed, scheduled to commence on December 13

On Sunday, the Tamil Nadu government stated that the state-run and government-aided schools’ half-yearly examinations would now take place on December 13.

According to an official release, Chief Minister M K Stalin has ordered that the exams, which were originally scheduled to start on December 11, be postponed throughout the state.

A revised schedule, released by the School Education Department, states that exams for grades 6 through 12 will take place on December 13–22.

A holiday was announced for schools in the districts of Chennai, Chengelpet, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur from December 4 to 9, in light of the cyclone “Michaung.”

The government has allotted ₹1.90 crore for various objectives, such as cleaning the school premises affected by the intense rains and flooding in Chennai and three other adjacent districts. The schools are scheduled to resume on December 11.

Students whose textbooks were lost or damaged by flooding or rain would receive new ones on December 12.

Exams have been postponed because pupils cannot study without books.

Exams are postponed in all districts of Tamil Nadu because all districts use the same question paper, according to an official.
