The faraway star V838 Monocreotis has an increasing ring of light surrounding it. This star image was recently shared by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which is responsible for frequently photographing cosmic and celestial bodies in space. According to the space agency, the “dying star” is located at the outer border of the Milky Way Galaxy, some 20,000 light years from Earth.
“The expanding illumination of never-before-seen spirals of dust is called a light echo. These swirls are likely caused by the dust and gas that are being ejected from the red supergiant star in a previous explosion,” NASA wrote in the caption.
“During that event, the star became 600,000 times more luminous than our Sun. Astronomers have observed that the star will continue to change as the pulse of illumination continues to expand at the speed of light,” the United States’ space agency explained.
The post featuring the gorgeous photo of the actress has received over 603,000 likes, making internet users go crazy over it.
Commenting on the celestial beauty, one user commented, “The space is way much prettier than my dreams.”
“This is so beautiful and interesting,” another wrote, while others remarked, “omg that’s unreal”, wow that’s so beautiful,” “what a beautiful universe”.
“A supergiant red star at the center of the image beaming with streaks of red light. Fuzzy tan colored gas and dust is surrounding the red star in a circular formation. Bright white stars with beams of light are surrounding the background of the image and around the gas and dust in the darkness of space,” NASA wrote describing the beaming red star.
