Silent Baraat goes viral

Viral Baraat: Indian weddings are ornate events with several customs and themes; they wouldn’t be the same without music, dancing, and, of course, a baraat. Videos of individuals dancing during weddings, pre-wedding rituals, and lavish events with a variety of themes are widely available on social media. Recently, a social media video showing an unusual baraat has gone viral. In the video, the groom’s procession—known as the baraat in Hindi—is shown dancing noiselessly while wearing headphones.

Inspiration from “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”

Vlogger @sheffoodie posted the video to Instagram. “Never thought I’d be attending an Ae Dil hai Mushkil DJ party. Would you ever wish to be a part of such a party?” She made reference to the silent disco version of the “Breakup song” that was featured in the movie in his post about the video.

“New age silent baraat” is the text insert that appears at the beginning of the clip. People wearing headphones are seen dancing and having fun throughout the film.

How does the netizen react?

A few days ago, the vlogger posted the video. The post has received over 736,000 likes and over 19 million views since then. While some people praised the creative twist in the comments section, others declared they were “not interested” in this type of baraat.

“Dude… This is a nice idea… Other people will also not disturb,” wrote one user. “Very good initiative,” said another.

However, one user added, “That’s so awkward for the viewers. Like I can visualise it ‘ae pagal hain sab naach rahe bina gaane ke’ [Are they mad? They’re dancing without music],” while another said, “Not interested in this type of barat”.

“Someone as wild as me will end up breaking the headphones,” expressed another.

Another Viral ‘Baraat’ – goes on Yulu

A other video of a distinctive baraat had gone viral on the internet earlier. In Bengaluru, one groom chose to use an electric scooter in place of the traditional horse and automobile. “Baraat on Yulu bike. Bangalore.” was the caption written on the video, which was posted on the Traaexplore Weddings Instagram page.

The video quickly became very popular. It received multiple comments and almost 42,000 likes. The eco-friendly and original idea was well received by many Instagram users, however some expressed disapproval due to noise and traffic issues. Others only laughed and cracked jokes.
