Police Finds 656 SIMs Linked To One Aadhaar! Check How Many Numbers Are Linked To Yours

When one Aadhaar card is linked to several SIM cards, scams continue to exist. The cybercrime wing discovered that one person had 100–150 mobile connections using just one Aadhaar number in one case and informed the appropriate mobile service providers via cancellation letters. The state of Tamil Nadu’s cybercrime unit has blacklisted 25,135 SIM cards during the last four months due to the possibility of fraud. As many as 658 SIM cards featuring a single photo identity were supplied in a different instance in Vijayawada. All SIM cards were registered in the name of Polukonda Naveen, who provides SIMs to kiosks and other locations, including mobile shops, where consumers can buy SIM cards.

According to reports, this issue was found by the DoT after an artificial intelligence toolset did so. When a SIM card is used fraudulently, a programme called ASTR (Artificial Intelligence and Facial Recognition Powered Solution for Telecom SIM Subscriber Verification) recognises it and disables the identification numbers. The programme gathers and filters pictures of SIM card holders from all telecom operators. This proved that several SIMs could be obtained by using a single photo.

You may check every mobile number connected to your Aadhaar. Anyone can learn how many phone lines are registered to their Aadhaar number through a website created by the DoT. The Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) platform allows telecom subscribers to search all the phone numbers connected to their Aadhaar number.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) developed the Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAF-COP) platform last year, which enables consumers to view how many mobile phones are connected to their Aadhaar cards. The TAF-COP website allows telecom consumers to look up all of their registered mobile phones that are associated with their Aadhaar IDs.

How to find out how many mobile numbers are associated with an Aadhaar:
1. Go to the official website: https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/
2. Enter your mobile number and Request OTP
3. Enter the OTP sent to your number and click on submit
4. Mobile numbers registered to your Aadhar card are displayed
