A recent incident involving Mumbai police officer SF Gupta has sparked controversy and gained significant traction on social media platforms. The officer is under scrutiny after a video surfaced online, capturing him engaged in an impromptu dance session with a young woman inside a second-class ladies coach of a Central Railway local train. The incident occurred on the evening of December 6, between 10:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., while Gupta was on duty as a home guard responsible for ensuring the safety of women during nighttime travel.
The viral video initially shows Gupta giving instructions to the woman, who was recording a dance reel. Subsequently, he joined in, dancing with her to the rhythm of the music.
Responding promptly to the incident, the official account of the Divisional Railway Manager tagged the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to take immediate action against the home guard in the video. The matter was promptly taken up by the RPF.
Taking swift action, the Government Railway Police (GRP) filed a formal report against Gupta on December 8, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future. Railway authorities emphasized that all personnel have been explicitly instructed not to take photos, pose for videos, or engage in selfies while in uniform and on duty. As a result, Gupta was summoned to provide an explanation for his actions.
