Tech giant Meta unveiled its latest artificial intelligence assistant on Monday, making it available across several platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and meta.ai.

The advanced ‘Llama 3’ large language model (LLM) powers the assistant.

In a statement, Meta highlighted that millions of users in India can now leverage its AI assistant seamlessly within their everyday interactions across these platforms.

The AI integration aims to enhance user productivity by allowing them to perform tasks, create content, and explore topics without leaving the apps they are currently using.

Meta stated, “It’s rolling out in India in English. Users can utilize Meta AI on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram for tasks, learning, creation, and meaningful connections.”

The announcement marks the official debut of Meta AI in the country following its initial unveiling at last year’s ‘Connect’ event.

Meanwhile, users can now utilize Meta AI on WhatsApp group chats to seek recommendations for restaurants offering scenic views and vegan options.

“For instance, ask Meta AI to suggest places to visit during a road trip. Need assistance studying? Request Meta AI to generate a multiple-choice test for you,” Meta explained.

Furthermore, users browsing through their Facebook Feed can interact with Meta AI directly from posts of interest.

For example, if someone encounters a captivating image of the northern lights in Iceland, they can inquire about the best time of year to witness this natural phenomenon.

Meta’s AI assistant aims to blend seamlessly into users’ digital experiences, facilitating tasks and providing valuable information without disrupting their social media interactions.

This strategic integration underscores Meta’s commitment to enhancing user engagement and functionality across its suite of platforms.
