Panic ensued at a hotel in Enderby, Leicestershire, England when a man was spotted walking around near the lifts brandishing what appeared to be a large knife. Witnesses quickly raised the alarm, prompting a response from firearm officers who descended on the venue. However, their apprehension turned into bemusement when they discovered that the “weapon” was, in fact, a wand belonging to a Harry Potter enthusiast.
According to a report by the BBC, Leicestershire Police later took to Facebook to share details of the amusing incident. They humorously noted that despite initial concerns, “there was no sign of Voldemort.” The specific hotel where the incident occurred was not disclosed by the authorities.
A spokesperson for Blaby police posted on Facebook, stating, “I attended a large hotel in Enderby this morning with several firearms officers, following a report of a male inside near the lifts carrying ‘a large knife’.” They continued, “Following inquiries we quickly established that it was a Harry Potter fan with a wand. Thankfully no harm was caused to any resident & there was no sign of ‘Voldemort.'”

Amidst the humor, some users acknowledged the serious context of knife-related incidents, expressing relief that this particular situation turned out to be harmless. One user remarked, “It is scary times with knives at the moment though, you can never be too careful! I’m glad everyone’s okay and people are getting smiles and laughs from it instead of fear.”
