In a strategic move to leverage India’s booming digital landscape, LinkedIn has launched a groundbreaking video experience aimed at fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.
This initiative comes as the platform reports a staggering 60% year-on-year increase in video uploads within the country, underlining the rising demand for engaging content.
With over 130 million members, India represents one of LinkedIn’s fastest-growing markets, witnessing a remarkable 20% annual growth in both user engagement and membership, making it the highest globally for the platform.
The new interactive swipe-based video feature caters to the evolving needs of professionals seeking diverse knowledge content.
Ajay Dutta, Head of Product Management at LinkedIn India, emphasized the significance of video as a key format.
“Video is one of the fastest-growing formats for us in India, and we are seeing incredible engagement,” he stated.
Dutta further asserted that LinkedIn helps hire nearly six people every minute. He also claimed that users form over 9,000 connections and consume more than 100 hours of learning content every minute.
The introduction of this video experience aligns perfectly with current trends, as over 350 million Internet users in India, approximately 60% are actively consuming video content.
Dutta highlighted that LinkedIn is continuously experimenting with various formats, including newsletters and collaborative articles, to enhance knowledge accessibility and support professional advancement.
“Our new video experience aims to make knowledge sharing more immersive and meaningful,” Dutta added, “enabling our members to tap into the collective wisdom and shared experiences of their networks.”
The platform’s content offerings will range from career development and workplace culture insights to light-hearted professional humor, ensuring that users have access to a wealth of engaging material to help them stay competitive in their careers.
