In the footage, Dr. Abhishek, identified by authorities, is seen “performing” surgery on a patient while his fiancee assists him in a staged procedure. The couple is surrounded by professional lighting equipment, and laughter from camerapersons and technicians accompanies the controversial scene. The photoshoot appears to have a medical theme, with the video ending as the “patient” sits up and laughs after the mock surgery.
Reacting to the incident, Karnataka’s Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, ordered Dr. Abhishek’s immediate dismissal, emphasizing that government hospitals exist to serve the public, not for personal engagements. He expressed zero tolerance for such “indiscipline” and reiterated the importance of adhering to government service rules.
In a tweet, the minister stated, “A doctor who conducted a pre-wedding shoot in the operation theater of Bharamasagar Government Hospital in Chitradurga has been dismissed from service. Government hospitals exist for the health care of people and not for personal work. I cannot tolerate such indiscipline from doctors.”

He instructed all personnel to be vigilant to prevent similar incidents in the future, stressing that government hospital facilities are provided for the healthcare of the general public.
“Everyone should focus on performing their duty, knowing that the facilities provided by the government to government hospitals are for the healthcare of the common people,” he added.
