104-Year-Old Woman Attempts a World Record Skydive

104-year-old Age is merely a number, as Dorothy Hoffner from Chicago recently demonstrated. On Sunday, Ms. Hoffner skydived and set a record for the oldest skydiver. The certification with Guinness World Records is still pending, though.

The centenarian put her walker away, boarded a plane, jumped out of it, and went skydiving.

“It’s fun, and it seemed so nice and peaceful, coming down with a parachute on top of you,” Ms. Hoffner said to CNBC Make It. The entire countryside is visible; it was stunning.

The video of Ms. Hoffner’s attempt to break the record for the highest skydive was uploaded by Skydive Chicago. It was incredible supporting our 104-year-old friend Dorothy Hoffner in her bid to set a record for the oldest skydiver ever, according to the description accompanying the photo. This past Sunday, she kindly reminded us all that beauty in life is just a hop away and that age is just a number.

She had previously skydived before. She underwent her first skydive on her 100th birthday. She wanted to reenact it four years later since, according to the news source, she was forced from the plane when she truly wanted to be the one to lead the way.

“We all stood up, went by the door, just stuck our feet out, and left the plane,” she recalled, “when we got to the altitude [and] we were going to get off. It was fantastic.

According to a representative from Skydive Chicago, she may soon be declared the oldest person to do a tandem parachute jump. “If you ever get the chance, do it. It’s not frightening,” she said. She will also try a trip in a hot-air balloon.
