In response to severe flooding over the past seven-and-a-half years, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has allocated more than Rs 2,900 crore in aid, according to government officials.
The extensive relief efforts include Rs 964 crore distributed among over 22 lakh farmers as compensation for crop damage caused by the floods since 2017. The government has also provided financial support for housing, compensating for over 3,000 houses completely destroyed and more than one lakh houses partially damaged by the floods.

Relief Commissioner G.S. Naveen praised Chief Minister Adityanath’s proactive approach to disaster management, noting that his vigilant monitoring and strategic foresight have been crucial in minimizing major incidents during flood events.
“Chief Minister Yogi is highly vigilant about disaster management to minimize loss of life and property. Consequently, every possible assistance extend to flood victims under his direction,” Naveen said.
According to Naveen, over the last seven-and-a-half years, Chief Minister Adityanath has allocated a total of Rs 2,982.37 crore for flood relief. Of this amount, Rs 2,286.90 crore has been used for various relief efforts, with the remainder returned to the government.
Relief Operations
Since 2017, the state government has provided Rs 964.23 crore in compensation to 22,44,605 farmers for crops damaged by floods. Additionally, relief operations included the distribution of 89,20,234 food and lunch packets in affected areas, the establishment of 5,301 flood posts for monitoring, and the deployment of 2,813 motor boats and 34,912 other boats for rescue missions.
Naveen also reported that the floods have resulted in the loss of 530 lives, with each affected family receiving Rs 4 lakh in compensation. Furthermore, compensation was provided for the loss of 1,304 milch animals and 337 non-milch animals, as well as for 3,107 houses completely destroyed and 1,41,107 houses partially damaged, including huts.
