Udhampur: A day after the defusing of the 15 Kilograms of improvised explosive device (IED) by the police in the Udhampur district of Jammu & Kashmir, three terrorists have been killed during an encounter by the security forces intercepting a truck they were travelling in the outskirts of Jammu & Kashmir, said police officials.
According to the police, the truck was set ablaze during the gun fight and fire tenders were called to douse the fire.
Further, the police said that the encounter started around 7AM and involved two to three terrorists on Panjtirthi-Sidhra road in Jammu following which additional reinforcement was rushed to the spot.
While speaking to the reporters, the Additional Director General of Police Jammu, Mukesh Singh said, “There was suspicious movement of a truck in the area. Police stopped the truck at check post. As security forces started searching the truck, terrorist hiding inside fired at security forces. All the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire.”
All three terrorists have been killed and one of the terrorist’s bodies has been retrieved from the site of the battle ground.
Moreover, Mr. Singh added that despite of a tough gun battle, the truck driver managed to escape from the encounter site and a search operation is on to track the truck driver down.
Ahead the encounter, entire location was sealed off and the traffic along the highway was stopped.
On Tuesday, the J&K police defused an IED (improvised explosive device) weighing 15 Kilograms recovered in Udhampur region of J&K.
It was a major plan by the terrorist group that was averted when a cylindrical shaped IED containing 300-400 grams of RDX, seven 7.62 mm cartridges and 5 detonators were recovered in the Basantgarh region on Monday, the police officials said.
On Tuesday, the recovered IED was safely defused, they added.
Moreover, the officials mentioned that one coded sheet and one letter pad page of banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were also recovered and a suspect was detained.
A case has been lodged at the Basantgarh Police Station and investigation is ongoing, they said.
