Hockey World Cup Schedule 2023: The word hockey itself is very special for India and Indians. There are many such matches recorded in the pages of history which remind us of the glorious days of India in this game. Be it Olympics, Commonwealth Games or Asian Games, Indian hockey has performed tremendously. However, in recent times, Team India has definitely fallen behind. But this phase too shall pass. Because once again the stage of the World Cup is ready and India is waiting to end the drought of 47 years.

Let us tell you that this is the first time in the history of the Hockey World Cup that one country has got the hosting rights one after the other. India, which hosted the tournament in 2018, is all set to host it again.

When will the Hockey World Cup start? 

The 2023 men’s FIH Hockey World Cup will begin on January 13 and the final will be played on January 29.

How many teams and what will be the format?

16 teams will participate in the Hockey World Cup. These teams are divided into four groups, which have 4-4 teams. The teams will play each other once in the group league and the group toppers will directly qualify for the quarter-finals. The second and third placed teams from each group will play in a cross over from where four more teams will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Group A: Australia, Argentina, France and South Africa
Group B: Belgium, Germany, South Korea and Japan
Group C: Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia and Chile
Group D: India, England, Spain and Wales
