ED Identifies CM Kejriwal as Key Conspirator in Liquor Policy Case; Alleges Kavita Transferred 300 Crores to AAP

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday evening in connection with the liquor policy case. The ED team reached the CM’s residence yesterday evening and thoroughly searched. After about two hours of interrogation, Kejriwal was arrested at 9 pm. Subsequently, he was presented before the special ED court at 2 pm on Friday.

During the court proceedings, Assistant Solicitor General (ASG) Raju, representing the ED, stated that Kejriwal was arrested in Delhi on March 21 and emphasized the demand for 10 days of custody. Raju highlighted Kejriwal’s alleged role as the main conspirator in the case, asserting that he conspired with other leaders and directly participated in the implementation of the liquor policy. Furthermore, Raju mentioned the involvement of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, whose bail application was previously rejected by the Supreme Court.

On the other hand, the legal team representing CM Kejriwal presented arguments in his favor during the court session, countering the allegations put forward by the ED.

Delhi High Court Denies Exemption Petition

Late Thursday night saw the arrest of Kejriwal by the ED team following his repeated non-compliance with nine previous summons. Despite multiple summonses, Kejriwal failed to appear, prompting the ED team to visit his residence with a tenth summons. After a two-hour interrogation and a search of his home, Kejriwal was taken into custody.

Earlier attempts by Kejriwal to evade interrogation were thwarted by the Delhi High Court, which rejected his petition for exemption from ED arrest. The court maintained that Kejriwal must comply with the investigation, leading to his eventual arrest by the ED.

ED Continues AAP Leaders’ Arrest Streak in Liquor Policy Scandal

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been relentless in its pursuit of justice in the liquor policy scam case, with all major leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) falling under its scrutiny. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was apprehended by the investigative agency on February 26, 2023, followed by the arrest of Sanjay Singh in October 2023. The latest addition to this list is Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested on March 21, 2024.
