Strong winds blowing across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) over the past several days have significantly improved air quality across the region.
Most monitoring stations in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad have recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in the moderate category, commonly known as the Yellow Zone.
Improved air quality has brought relief to residents across the NCR, even as rising temperatures signal the gradual onset of summer.
In Delhi, monitoring stations recorded AQI levels of 155 in Alipur, 149 in Ashok Vihar, 135 in Aya Nagar, 160 in Bawana and 132 at Burari Crossing.
Other areas, including Cantonment, Chandni Chowk, the Commonwealth Sports Complex and CRRI Mathura Road, remained in the moderate range, while Anand Vihar recorded a higher AQI of 229.
Neighbouring Noida also reported moderate levels, with AQI readings of 158 in Sector 125, 141 in Sector 62, and 160 in Sectors 1 and 116.
Ghaziabad also recorded moderate air quality, with readings of 155 in Indirapuram, 173 in Sanjay Nagar and 159 in Vasundhara, while Loni reported a slightly higher AQI of 213.
The India Meteorological Department reported that strong winds have dispersed pollutants and improved air quality across the region.
Temperatures are now expected to rise, with the maximum likely to reach around 34°C and the minimum between 16°C and 17°C over the coming days.
Clear skies will prevail, signalling a gradual transition toward summer conditions. Residents are currently experiencing temporary relief from pollution, but experts expect warmer days ahead.
Weather officials also advised people to stay hydrated as temperatures begin to climb. The stable atmospheric conditions may continue to support better air quality in the short term.
