Gold and silver prices declined on Thursday, with both precious metals trading lower in domestic and global markets as investors closely monitored developments in the ongoing West Asia conflict.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold futures for August delivery slipped to an intraday low of ₹1,46,444 per 10 grams before recovering some losses.

Silver futures for July delivery also remained under pressure, falling more than 2 per cent during the session.

Gold opened at ₹1,46,518 and later traded near ₹1,47,860, while silver opened at ₹2,31,671 and traded around ₹2,34,500. Despite intraday fluctuations, both metals remained in negative territory.

The weakness extended to international markets, where COMEX gold and silver also recorded losses.

Market participants continued to evaluate the impact of recent geopolitical developments and their implications for global financial markets.

According to commodity analysts, precious metals have come under pressure as investors reassess safe-haven demand following reports that the latest US military operations in Iran had concluded.

Expectations of a possible return to diplomatic negotiations reduced some of the uncertainty that had previously supported bullion prices.

Analysts also noted that expectations of higher interest rates for an extended period have weighed on gold and silver.

Higher interest rates have reduced the appeal of gold and silver, while rising energy prices continue to fuel inflation concerns.

Brent crude traded above $95 per barrel, and WTI hovered near $94.

Analysts expect commodity markets to remain volatile amid geopolitical tensions and uncertainty over global interest rates.
