Fire Damages Tomorrowland Main Stage Days Before Festival Opens In Belgium

Just two days before the much-anticipated start of Tomorrowland 2025, a major fire broke out at the festival’s main stage in Boom, Belgium, on the evening of 16 July.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but festival organisers have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

Videos circulating online show the festival’s famously elaborate main stage engulfed in flames, sending thick smoke into the evening sky.

The dramatic visuals quickly drew attention from fans across the globe. According to Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen (GVA), emergency services brought the blaze under control before 8:00 PM, and crews were able to prevent further damage.

Although festival-goers had not yet arrived, several crew members were present at the time, setting up for the weekend event. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

As a precautionary measure, authorities advised nearby residents to keep their windows and doors shut to avoid smoke inhalation.

Firefighters remained on-site to secure the area and monitor for any potential flare-ups.

The fire’s timing, so close to the festival’s commencement, sparked widespread speculation online.

Rumours began circulating that the festival might be cancelled. However, Tomorrowland organisers were quick to deny these claims.

Organisers Confirm Festival Will Continue

In an official statement posted on Instagram, Tomorrowland reassured fans:

“Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged. We can confirm that no one was injured during the incident.”

The post further confirmed that DreamVille – the festival’s popular campsite – would open as scheduled on Thursday, 17 July. Additionally, all Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp would continue without change.

Organisers added, “We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday). More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.”
