The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies and multiple spells of rainfall across Delhi-NCR on Wednesday, with monsoon conditions expected to remain active throughout the day and continue into the first week of August.
The IMD said most parts of Delhi will receive very light to light rain on Wednesday, while a few areas may witness moderate showers from morning until noon.
Another spell of light rain, with isolated moderate showers, is likely during the evening and night.
The active monsoon trough, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh and a western disturbance continue to influence weather conditions across Delhi-NCR.
The department has forecast a maximum temperature of 31°C to 33°C and a minimum of 22°C to 24°C, with southeasterly winds blowing at 10-15 kmph.
The IMD said cloudy skies and intermittent rain will persist until the first week of August. It has forecast light to moderate rain on July 30, isolated light showers from July 31 to August 2, and a few spells of light rain on August 3.
The latest forecast comes after heavy monsoon showers disrupted normal life across Delhi on Tuesday.
Waterlogging, flooded roads, traffic congestion, fallen trees and power outages affected several parts of the city, causing widespread inconvenience to commuters and residents.
According to the IMD, Tuesday was the rainiest day of the year so far and the coldest July day recorded in the national capital in the past three years.
Safdarjung, Delhi’s base weather station, recorded 57.6 mm of rainfall between 08:30 AM and 05:30 PM, while Pusa received the highest rainfall at 88.5 mm during the same period, highlighting the intensity of the monsoon spell across the city.
