Delhi-NCR could experience variable weather on Friday, with partly sunny skies giving way to cloudy periods and rainfall in some locations.

The mercury is likely to remain between 27°C and 35°C, keeping the weather warm and humid across the capital.

Meteorological conditions suggest that Delhi-NCR will remain predominantly cloudy, while showers could occur intermittently during the day.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted isolated heavy rain over Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh on August 20 and August 22.

Delhi’s local forecast, however, indicates mostly very light to light showers, although a few locations could experience moderate rainfall.

Rain-bearing systems are affecting several regions of the country, with widespread wet weather expected to persist over the coming days.

Punjab could receive additional rainfall on Friday and Saturday, while some locations may record moderate to heavy showers.

Mumbai could witness thunderstorms before experiencing relatively cooler and breezier conditions, with temperatures expected to stay between 25°C and 31°C.

The Himalayan belt, central India, eastern states and the Northeast may continue to receive rainfall. Parts of the western coast may see rain. Isolated spells of heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely in some areas.

Fluctuating temperatures and high humidity have coincided with a rise in H1N1, or swine flu, cases. Other respiratory infections have increased in Delhi-NCR and several other areas.

Medical professionals have urged people to watch for flu-like symptoms and follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of infection.

Delhi had reported 1,344 H1N1 cases by early August, compared with 229 cases during the corresponding period last year, according to the figures provided.

Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 242, while Dwarka Sector 8 reported 181 and Jahangirpuri registered 158.

The AQI stood at 145 in Pusa, 142 at IIT Delhi, 136 in Bawana, 134 in Mundka, 124 in Sonia Vihar and 123 at Siri Fort.

Najafgarh and the Commonwealth Sports Complex each recorded an AQI of 95, while the Cantonment Area registered 93 and JNU reported 90.
